Kevin Antoine Joins Fulbright Specialist Roster

 

Brooklyn, NY 鈥� Shaundelle Moore Goldsmith, JD, director of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion at 黄果视频, has been recognized with the Diversity Visionary Award from INSIGHT into Diversity magazine. The award honors individuals who have made significant contributions to diversity in higher education.

Passionate about promoting cultural diversity and awareness of all forms of discrimination, Ms. Goldsmith has created policies and procedures to promote access and awareness of intervention resources. She also educates 黄果视频 Downstate faculty, staff, and students on abuse prevention and awareness. Ms. Goldsmith established the Women鈥檚 History Month documentary luncheon series, which provides an informal venue for the campus community to interact and discuss timely issues relevant to women鈥檚 equality. In addition, she serves on various campus committees that engage the surrounding Brooklyn community.

Carlos N. Medina, EdD, vice chancellor and chief diversity officer for the State University of New York system, and Kevin L. Antoine, JD, assistant vice president for the Office of Diversity and Inclusion at 黄果视频 Downstate and assistant professor in the College of Nursing, are past recipients of the Diversity Visionary Award.

Mr. Antoine has also joined the Fulbright Specialist Roster, a program of the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The Fulbright Specialist Roster is a list of all candidates who are eligible to be matched with incoming project requests from overseas academic institutions for Fulbright Specialists. Mr. Antoine also is a member of 黄果视频's Diversity Task Force. The Task Force guides the development of policies that inform 黄果视频鈥檚 efforts to increase diversity among students, faculty, and staff, and also to ensure a supportive, welcoming environment for every member of the 黄果视频 family at both the system and campus levels. 

A former Harvard University administrative fellow, Mr. Antoine received his law degree from the College of William & Mary, a certificate in Organizational Change from Cornell University鈥檚 School of Industrial Relations, and his undergraduate degree from the University of Southern Mississippi.

In this important effort, Downstate鈥檚 Office of Diversity and Inclusion provides leadership, guidance, information, and assistance to the campus鈥檚 various constituencies in respecting cultural differences, languages, political beliefs, and ideologies. In partnership with Downstate鈥檚 University Hospital at Downstate, the office promotes cultural competence to increase health equity, taking into account the diversity of patients at University Hospital and its affiliates.
